HOW I ROLL
OR:
“The band writes a road song and Danny’s Seventies slip is showing.”
After almost 13 years of touring the US and Canada (the hardest way possible), you can bet you make some memories! Some great, some so-so and some…eh let’s not talk about it. Tuatha Dea is after all predominately a family first. Then … a band that acts as their own roadies, techs and engineers and drives their own van crammed full of 8 plus people while pulling a 14 foot trailer full of every imaginable kind of instrument and equipment hither and thither, to and fro and so forth and so on, etc., etc. ,etc..
Regardless, sang from the Ladies point of view, Katherine Holman kills it with powerful bluesy vocals while the band goes for a slightly heavier electric 12 bar blues/rock groove and Danny Mullikin steps out of his comfort zone to capture days of yore when his son Brandon wailed on tunes like Wisp of a Thing. The lyrics pull from actual road experiences and even share some original Tuatha Dea turns of phrase and quotes such as “Only the finest parking lots will do”, “Cashin in my feelings” and “Loadin in and Loadin Out and throwin up and throwin down”. Yep. ALL very real stuff ya’ll.
So, take a ride with the band. Influences? Well, this Family recipe has been ready to shake and bake for a while now. One part Aerosmith, a pinch of the Stones, a touch of Heart and a whole lotta Tuatha Dea love (a Led Zeppelin Reference while we’re here) and you get “How I Roll”!
