LONG WAY TO THE TOP
OR:
“Stolen Music and a Little AC Dea-C! Get it DEA-C? Don’t Worry We Paid for It!”
Occasionally, Tuatha Dea runs across a piece of music that doesn’t belong to them, but they really-really like it. So, what’s a band to do? Take it of course and make it their own … That is the obvious answer …we’ll sort of. Of course, Royalties are paid so it’s not technically “Stolen” and truth be told, it’s all about admiration, respect and wanting to celebrate someone else’s amazing work! (Stealing it just sounds a bit more “Rock and Roll”). In this case it’s AC DC’s Classic “Long Way to the Top”!
What more could this song possibly need other than heavy Guitar, driving rhythms and Bagpipes? Nothin NEEDED at all. BUT what if you added a little feminine energy via Rebecca and Katherine’s sibling harmonies and introduced some Fiddle (including a scalding solo section by former member, Laura Smith) and maybe punch up the tempo a tad courtesy Drummer, Brett Maney? What if??? What if??? What if???? Here’s what! A little Appalachian Hard Rock for all you AC DC fans! After all it’s a “Long Way to the Top if You want to Rock and Roll” …. Appalachian Americana Celtic Style!
